You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a surfboard and that’s pretty close
As a young couple, volunteering in Peru, we fell in love with the ocean and the waves. We started dreaming about living there or elsewhere close to the ocean, being barefoot, surfing all day and drinking out of a coco-nut shell 😊
But then we faced reality and decided that we couldn’t leave our core: our family and closest friends. We convinced ourselves we had to go back home, make a career, buy a house, build a family and get a dog. So that is what we did. To satisfy our hunger for surfing and new places we found the perfect compromise : we moved from the center of Belgium to the North Sea to enjoy sea, sand and once and a while some good waves. We found our second core there. Good friends, who, just like us, are addicted to the sea and watersports.
We never stopped traveling, looking for nice beaches and waves. Dragging along our kids, dogs, surfboards, bodyboards, skateboards, buggy’s,… and quite often we ended up in Portugal where some of our friends migrated to.
We fell in love with the Portuguese coastline and luckily for us, our kids, now teenagers, share this feeling. These experiences, coupled with the eternal desire to improve our surfing skills inspired us to purchase a second home at the Atlantic ocean in Portugal. When we stumbled across the spectacular stretch of coast in Aljezur and the astonishing bay of Arrifana, we knew we had found the perfect location: a gorgeous bay, protected from the wind, offering consistent waves for surfers of all levels in the midst of a nature park.
We found the ideal property, a five-bedroom house with amazing views on the cliffs and the ocean and in walking distance from the beach.
Our idea: By sunrise, while our teenagers are still sleeping, we are up and surfing,
The perfect way to start the (holi)day.
For us a home, away from home,
For you the perfect getaway,
Looking forward to welcome you in our place,
David, Lyn & kids
